ABS and ASA for functional 3D-printed parts: resistant to 90–100 °C, impacts and UV. For car interiors, technical housings and outdoor applications.
3D printing with ABS and ASA — heat-resistant parts
Upload a file for a priceABS and the more modern ASA are the engineering materials of FDM printing: they withstand 85–100 °C, absorb impacts and vibration, and can be sanded, painted and acetone-smoothed for a factory look.
When ABS/ASA: car interior parts (clips, trims, buttons), device housings, parts near the engine bay (ASA), tools exposed to constant temperature, outdoor parts requiring UV resistance (ASA is UV-stabilised).
Specifics: they print in an enclosed chamber so layers do not crack in draughts. We have machines with such chambers — the result is a high-strength part without interlayer defects.
ASA or ABS for outdoors?
ASA. It is ABS with UV stabilisation — it does not yellow or become brittle in the sun. For interior parts the two are equivalent.
Does ABS smell when printing?
Yes, printing releases a light styrene odour — that is why we print in ventilated machines, not on a desk. For customers this means: no extra cost, just a quality part.
