Oni Demon Mask with Dragon Relief Wall Sculpture

At the centre of the framed panel snarls the mask of an Oni, the Japanese demon with furrowed brows, a broad nose, curved horns and sharp fangs. A scaled dragon coils around it, its head rising above the forehead and its body passing beneath the chin. Waves and clouds curl below and to the sides in the classic style of Japanese woodblock prints and tattoos. The composition is dense and symmetrical, and the deep creases of the demon's face create dramatic shadows.
