5 things to know before uploading an STL file for printing

Uploading a file to our system takes a minute. But the five things below decide whether the result will make you happy:
1. Scale is your responsibility (almost)
STL files have no units. Check that the model is in millimetres and that its dimensions match the real place the part has to fit. The online calculator shows you the exact size before ordering.
2. Wall thickness — at least 1–1.2 mm
Walls under 1 mm become brittle or fail in FDM. If the model is thin-walled by design — we discuss infill and perimeters that save it.
3. Orientation defines strength
FDM parts are stronger along the layers than between them. A bracket loaded "across the layers" breaks. We choose the orientation — if the application is critical, mention it in the request.
4. The material follows the application
See our material guide; if in doubt we print the same file in two materials for comparison — the price difference is small and the benefit is big.
5. Tolerances for assembly
For mating parts we design a 0.2–0.4 mm clearance. If your model has exact zero clearance (typical from CAD), it will not assemble. We check and offer a fix before printing — free of charge.
Ready? Upload the file and see the live price — we confirm it before production starts.
