Prototyping with FDM 3D printing: check the shape, strength and assembly in days, not weeks. Iterations without a machine shop, STL from CAD or our modelling.
3D printing for prototyping
Order custom workA prototype exists to be changed. With 3D printing for prototyping we go from a CAD file (or a sketch) to a physical object in hours and a print in days — at a fraction of the cost of CNC or injection moulding.
Typical flow: first prototype (shape and assembly) → feedback → second version → third (strength testing in PETG/ABS) → final model. Iterations cost hundreds, not thousands — and your idea reaches the product faster.
We also help with DfM — design for manufacturing: thin walls, tolerances, loads, print orientation. If injection moulding follows, the prototype shows where it would fail.
I only have a sketch/idea — do you help with the model?
Yes — we model the 3D file from a sketch, dimensions and references; we revise until you approve, then print.
How accurate is an FDM prototype?
±0.2–0.3 mm is realistic. For mating parts we design with a 0.2–0.4 mm clearance.
